LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Chris Kelly’s cause of death remains pending tonight. What did Chris Kelly aka Mac Daddy of Kris Kross die of? Investigators tell news that they still don’t know tonight. Chris Kelly died today May 1, 2013. Officials confirm to news that Chris Kelly’s cause of death will remain unknown pending coroner autopsy results. A local coroner is expected to proceed tomorrow with testing. Kelly’s initial autopsy results could be partially ready by this weekend. Chris Kelly funeral arrangements have not been announced to news.
Investigator Betty Honey of the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office tells news that Chris Kelly was found dead shortly after 5 pm local time. Honey reports to news that Kelly was found unresponsive at his Atlanta area home. Thirty minutes later, in the south campus of the Atlanta Medical Center, Chris Kelly was confirmed dead. Officials are not releasing any other medical details about Kelly currently. Honey has yet to indicate an circumstances concerning Kelly’s final moments before becoming unconscious.
Chris “Mac Daddy” Kelly and Chris “Daddy Mac” Smith ignited on the music scene in the 1990s. In 1992 on Ruffhouse/Columbia Records, Kris Kross released their first studio album, Totally Krossed Out. The album went to number one on the US charts, number seven in Australia. It eventually got certified 4x Platinum in the U.S and triple Platinum in Canada.
The group’s second album was Da Bomb released a year later. It failed to break the top ten but reach number two in the U.S. R&B chart. It eventually reached single platinum. Finally, the pair released Young, Rich & Dangerous three years later. It reach number two in the U.S. R&B and was certified U.S. Gold.
