LOS ANGELES (LALATE EXCLUSIVE) – Who is Kenya Moore’s boyfriend, “the African oil tycoon”, and are there picture of the purported Nigeria oil tycoon boyfriend online? In a World Exclusive, LALATE can reveal that RHOA is taking a major turn. If Kenya Moore is dating, not just an “African oil tycoon”, but specifically a “Nigerian oil tycoon”, then his last name could be “Alakij”. If true, there are pictures of him online because his mother is richer than even Oprah Winfrey. Moreover, he appeared at his brother’s wedding just months ago. So who is he?
Kenya Moore is not releasing the name nor pictures of her boyfriend to news. But LALATE in a world exclusive can reveal a big possibility for Kenya Moore fans. At issue first are key words. Bravo specifically referred to the boyfriend in the RHOA finale as an “African oil tycoon”. In subsequent reports, several sites claimed that the boyfriend is specifically a “Nigerian oil tycoon”.
Kenya Moore’s ties to Nigeria have been documented since last winter. In recent months, she has shared pictures alongside Nigerian superstar D’banj. At the time, the two purportedly were in Houston. Moore was attending a taping of WWHL from Texas and D’banj was appearing in concert.
After those picture(s) and RHOA’s “tycoon” update, reports surfaced that Moore might be specifically dating not just an African oily tycoon but a Nigerian oil tycoon. If the Bravo update, and those subsequent reports are true, LALATE can report then Kenya Moore might possibly be dating …. one of the four sons of Nigerian oil tycoon Folorunsho Alakija.
Who is Folorunsho Alakija and what is her net worth? In 2012, Ventures Africa published a news report claiming that the beautiful Folorunsho Alakija had passed Oprah Winfrey as the richest black woman in the world. But unlike Orpah, Folorunsho Alakija’s greatest wealth came only since the year 2000. She is the founder and owner of Fama Oil. Fama Oil owns 60% in OML 127 which is worth in excess of $6.44 billion. Her net worth remains in dispute. Ventures Africa in 2012 put it excess of $3.2 billion. Forbes that same year listed the her net worth at $600 million, compared to Oprah’s $2.7 billion dollar net worth.
So where was Kenya Moore’s friend D’banj appearing in concert last December 27, 2012? He took to the stage in Lagos, Nigeria. And Folorunsho Alakija is also a native of Lagos, LALATE can report.
Alakija’s background story is fascinating. She moved from Nigeria to London before the 1990s. Thereafter she launched a successful career as a fashion designer. But in 1993, she made a life changing decision. She applied for what was then called in Nigeria an “Oil Prospecting License”. The license granted her a right to explore for oil on a 617,000-acre block of land.
Venture Africa wrote at the time “In May 1993 Alakija applied for an allocation of an Oil Prospecting License (OPL). The license to explore for oil on a 617,000 acre block – (now referred to as OPL 216) was granted to Alakija’s company, Famfa Limited. The block is located approximately 220 miles South East of Lagos and 70 miles offshore Nigeria in the central Niger Delta.”
Three years later, Ms.Alakija hired Star Deep Water Petroleum Limited to advise her on the oil drilling project. And by 2000, her life was changed. Star Deep found one billion barrels of oil underneath the 617,000 acre block she bought !
But the story wasn’t done there. Therein kicked off a legal battle. The Nigerian government allegedly went to court and won back 90% of the rights it sold to her in a stunning legal decision. She appealed. And eventually the appellate court allegedly reversed. Today she reportedly retained 60% of OPL 216 aka OML 127 which is owned by her company Famfa Limited aka Fama Oil.
Today Fama Oil is run by the beautiful Folorunsho Alakija, her husband, and her handsome four sons. In September 2012, one of those four sons Ladi Alakij got married. And in some of the wedding photos, you can see what appears to be Ladi appearing alongside his three brothers.
So is Kenya Moore dating a Nigeria oil tycoon? And is Kenya Moore dating one of Folorunsho Alakija’s sons? For now, there is a lot left to twirl about for Kenya fans, because this story is just starting to get gone with the oil fabulous.
