LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Daddy Yankee is not gay, is not pictured kissing a guy in a photo, and did not issue a statement featuring a “declaration of homosexuality”, his publicist tells news tonight. Yesterday, a fake kissing photo and a fake statement surfaced online. Moments ago, the singer’s rep denied both as completely fabricated by an unnamed website.
First, in the picture, a man is shown kissing another male. A close-up reveals that the picture is highly photoshopped. You can see that the white sunglasses are literally pasted into the picture. The edit lines are clearly obvious.
Thereafter, a statement was circulated online. That statement, however, was never issued by Daddy Yankee.
By late Wednesday, the 36-year-old singer Ramon Ayala issued a news statement throughout Mayna Nevarez, President of the public relations firm Nevarez Communications. The statement issued to the LA Times reads that “Online blogs and social media are once again to blame for the spread of false news reports, which other media outlets have also shared regarding a public figure.”
Nevarez also told news that “The reports circulating regarding Daddy Yankee’s declaration of homosexuality was falsely written by an online outlet known for fabricating false information and spreading it through social media sites.”
Throughout the day, the singer has been posting quotations. One was from Albert Einstein, which stated via translation, “I fear the day when technology exceeds our humanity.”
