LOS ANGELES (LALATE EXCLUSIVE) – Lea Black of Real Housewives of Miami is preparing for the Blacks Annual Gala 2013. And Lea recently took time out to speak to LALATE exclusively about this year’s Gala in Miami. The Gala helps fund the Consequences Charity which has created a video and curriculum, showing kids the “consequences” of their actions.
LALATE asked Lea “RHOM viewers may not know that the Consequences Charity helps teens all year long. You’ve do holiday gift drives, after school programs, a summer camp with Miami Light Project, you work with Breakthrough Miami. The effort is all year long?”
Lea tells LALATE “The Consequences Foundations programs run off and on throughout the year. We provide funding to service providing organizations that have the same goals. And the consequences video is shown year round.” She added “We do the annual Gala once a year and one employee works on it, along with me pretty much year round and about four months out of the year its around the clock. “
LALATE also asked Lea “Is the focus both educational and proactive, first make sure that teens understand the consequences of their actions, and then give them something (like after school programs) to remain on course?”
Lea replied “Yes, and we also focus on education, with Teach for America, after school programs with Breakthrough Miami, and this year we are also raising funds for sports programs like the 20 football teams Flo Rida helps to fund. ” She added “Whatever moneys we raise, its almost always for the same basic cause — at risk kids and giving them opportunities they never thought possible, and keeping them in school and other programs designed to show them a life that is more promising then crime.” For more visit theblacksannualgala.com.
