LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Ja Rule is in jail after his prison release. Ja Rule is in jail at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center, officials tell news. FBI officials confirm that Ja Rule has nearly completed his sentence on two different matters.
First Ja Rule failed to pay taxes for three years as a New Jersey resident. From 2004 to 2006, Ja Rule never filed tax returns while still earning more than three million dollars in music earnings. Ja Rule ultimately pleaded guilty to tax evasion chargers.
But he also had a two year sentence for illegal gun possession. Ja Rule (Jeffery Atkings) was arrested with a .40 caliber Taurus pistol in 2007. The rapper was inside his vehicle at the time departing a Lil Wayne concert at New York City’s Beacon Theatre.
Officials had Ja Rule serve two years for the gun charges in New York state prison. After nearly completely his term, they had him finish serving term on his federal tax evasion charges. Last week he was released from prison and transferred to an upstate New York jail. Now he has been moved to a Brooklyn jail. Officials report that his release date is July 28.
