LOS ANGELES (LALATE EXCLUSIVE) – If “Vanderpump Rules” looks “The Hills” 2.0, there might be a reason. Lisa Vanderpump teamed up with Lauren Conrad’s former executive producer of “The Hills” to deliver “Vanderpump Rules” for Bravo, LALATE can report.
Since its debut, “Vanderpump Rules” has been the subject of debate. Did Bravo perceive the show as an updated version of the hit MTV series “The Hills” with Lauren Conrad during production, or before filming even started? Earlier last month, Bravo published a story called “Why ‘Vanderpump Rules’ Is Better Than ‘Hills'”. Bravo added “Anyhoo, rather than write it, we thought we’d present a visual argument to plead our case of Vanderpump being a new, improved and steamier version of The Hills”.
But was Bravo’s similarity to MTV programming accidental? LALATE can report that, of Pump Rule’s six executive producers, one name stands out: Bill Langworthy. According to IMBD, Bill Langworthy has no prior history with Bravo until “Vanderpump Rules”.
Rather, Bill Langworthy has years of credits on MTV series. He served as executive and supervising producer on “The Hills” from roughly 2007 to 2009. He also has experience with spinoffs. Langworthy was the executive producer of “The City”, “The Hills” spinoff from 2009 to 2010.
While Bravo has yet to reveal to news when Langworthy was brought into the production, Bravo has said of Vanderpump Rules “It’s hot. It’s the Hills 2.0. Stassi Schroeder…the new Kristin Cavallari, but even more manipulative.” Of course, Cavallari told news once “The Hills” ended that it was entirely fake.
