LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – A JR Smith Twitter remark with a young female could prompt another NBA fine for Smith. JR Smith Twitter comments and photo with Tahiry in 2012 resulted in a massive fine from the NBA’s David Stern at the time. Now new Smith remarks toward a female concerning an NBA game could prompt another cut in Smith’s wallet.
This week, Twitter comments between a female and JR Smith surfaced online. They concerned a Knicks Sixers game. Some news sites claim to have located the female at issue. First she writes to Smith on Twitter “I’m going to your [NBA] game tonight”. He replied “Dope”. After she gave him a happy face, he added “Oh Really”, prompting her to add “oh really what?” From there, Smith questions the female “you trying to get the [edited]”.
Last night, Smith didn’t leave the controversy alone. Rather in a René Magritte like move, he added a notable image to his Instagram. The NBA has yet to comment to news about the matter. Deadspin is claiming that the female is allegedly young.
In March 2012, the NBA contacted Smith about his then Twitter scandal. “NYK’s Jr Smith has been fined $25,000 for posting inappropriate pictures on his Twitter account” said the NBA at the time. The image then did not concern an NBA game, unlike this week’s scandal.
So has Smith learned from his previous fines? In 2012, he told news “I mean, I didn’t know it was going to be as big a deal as it is now… I definitely regret it. I take away from our team. Anytime I do anything that takes away from our team I’m definitely going to regret it.”
