LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Premio Lo Nuestro (en vivo por Univision) kicks off tonight with its twenty-fifth anniversary telecast. Leading the Premio Lo Nuestro nominations this year are Romeo Santos and Prince Royce with seven nominations. But as news analysts note, it could be a big night as well for Jenni Rivera and Don Omar. Don Omar is up for six nominations tonight.
The pop category tonight will feature Paulina Rubio battling the late Jenni Rivera. Rivera is nominated for “Joyas Prestadas (Pop)” while Rubio picked up a nod for “Brava”. The field is filed also with Alejandro Sanz, Ricardo Arjona and Jesse & Joy.
Rivera is also nominated for female artist of the year. Also with nods in the category tonight are Shakira, Rubio and Gloria Trevi. Male artist of the year nods go to Arjona, Luis Fonsi and Alejandro Sanz, officials tell news.
Rubio and Rivera also are up for Song of the Year nods tonight. A Cambio de Que by Rivera will battle Me Gustas Tanto, first detailed on LALATE, from Paulina. Officials remind news that the field includes “Fuiste Tú” byRicardo Arjona y Gaby Moreno, Espinoza Paz’s “Un Hombre Normal”, and “Corre” by Jesse and Joy. Jesse & Joy has five nominations tonight overall.
