LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – “I was just a jerk” is the latest apology by John Mayer to Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Aniston and Taylor Swift. John Mayer made the admission during a CBS Sunday Morning news interview set to air this weekend. “I was just a jerk,” he tells news. “It’s very liberating when you finally realize it’s impossible to make everyone like you. I wanted everybody to like me. I thought I was one shuck and jive away in every direction.”
This is not the first time that John Mayer has apologized for his remarks. In 2012, on NPR’s All Things Considered, Mayer admitted his wrongdoing. So why is he still apologizing for comments now three years later? That remains unclear.
What did Mayer say of Simpson? The highly edited news comments at the time read “Yeah, that girl is like … it was crazy. That’s all I’ll say. It was like napalm, …. napalm.”
Mayer previously apologized about his white supremacist comments shortly after they were made. Mayer invoking a physical body part said at the time “I don’t think I open myself to it. My [body part] is sort of like a white supremacist. I’ve got a Benetton heart and a …. David Duke [part]. I’m going to start dating separately from my [part].”
Mayer previously fumed about Taylor Swift’s Dear John song. “It made me feel terrible because I didn’t deserve it…. It’s abusing your talent to rub your hands together and go, ‘Wait til he gets a load of this!'”
