LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – With old Kim Zolciak, Sheree Whitfield, Lisa Wu-Hartwell and DeShawn Snow RHOA episodes airing this week on Bravo daytime in rerun, many fans are wondering what happened between Bravo and these former RHOA cast members. Kim Zolciak and Sheree Whitfield were both fired, asserts NeNe Leakes, a claim that both women deny. Leakes, however, is now telling news what Bravo looks for in a housewife after one season, and why Bravo routinely fires Housewives. Her revelation might surprise you.
Over the years, Housewives fans have wondered if fan reactions and ratings dips determine Housewife firings. While they do, another previously unknown ingredient plays out in contract renewals, claims NeNe.
NeNe Leakes tells news that Bravo after one season is not interested in Housewives who want to be famous and don’t use the show as a platform. Rather Leakes says Bravo wants housewives who use the show to launch major endeavors. If they don’t, Bravo reportedly doesn’t keep the women on their shows.
Leakes tells Vulture “I feel like they’re [former RHOA cast members] all gone for a reason, and I don’t think any of them were smart enough to stick around for this long, and I don’t think any of them were smart enough to use this platform in ways they could have used it.”
Leakes says that some housewives uses the show just to sit around and appear famous. That however doesn’t help Bravo. Rather producers reportedly want to see women becoming bigger outside the context of the show and launching businesses. Those businesses, then, turn into storylines and drama for upcoming seasons.
Leakes tells news that’s why RHOA may never get rid of her and Kandi Burruss. “They’re gone and I don’t think that they’re missed. Both (current cast member) Kandi (Buruss) and I have a business sense. That’s one thing a lot of girls on the show don’t have.” She adds “Some people come on these shows to be famous. I was never interested in fame. I was always interested in supporting my family.”
