Officials tell news that a 5.1 magnitude Nicaragua earthquake today began shortly after 11 am PST today. The temblor was one of the strongest to strike Nicaragua this year. Yet USGS indicates to news that the quake began with a substantial depth. The quake posted an epicenter roughly fifty-four miles below sea level.
USGS indicates to news that the quake was twenty miles west of Jiquilillo. The quake was thirty-eight miles west of EL Viejo and thirty-nine miles west of Corinto. Officials also tell news that the quake was forty-one miles west of Chinandega.
Mapping reveals that the quake was north of Leno and Corinto. The quake was west of Choluteca and Octotal and south of Nacaome.
In related news, a moderate 3.3 magnitude Mexico earthquake struck Baja California today. The erupted with no depth. Officials tell news that the quake was thirteen miles southwest of Guadalupe Victoria. The quake was roughly thirty-six miles south of Mexicali and San Luis Rio Colorado. Officials also tell news that quake was roughly one hundred miles east of Tijuana.
