LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – A strong Mexico earthquake has just erupted in Oaxaca. The terremoto en Mexico hoy Sunday, January 06, 2013 began shortly after 12:24 PM local time. The Mexico temblor registered a 5.1 magnitude. No reports of injuries have yet to be given by local news.
The Mexico earthquake today erupted in the early afternoon, officials tell news. The quake, however, posted a significant depth. Officials tell news that the temblor erupted forty miles below the earth’s surface. As a result, the impact of the quake was not as substantial as recent temblors.
USGS indicates to news that the Mexico quake began four miles east of Palomares. The quake was seventeen miles north of Matias Romero and thirty-nine miles north of San Geronimo Ixtepec. Officials also report that the quake was forty-six miles northwest of Union Hidalgo.
Mapping today reveals that the quake was west of Tonala, south of Isla. The temblor began west of Tuxtla Gutierrez and north of El Espinal. The shaking was situated east of highway 185 running south to the coast near Salina Cruz, officials tell news.
Earlier today, a 2.6 magnitude California earthquake erupted east of East Foothills. The quake was north of Alum Rock and nine miles east of San Jose.
