CORAL GABLES (LALATE) – A JR Ewing funeral will air on the Dallas TNT’s second season. JR Ewing’s funeral will be an integral part of the second season of the Dallas reboot on TNT, officials tell news. Yet, there are conflicting reports about how many episodes Larry Hagman shot for the new season before his passing.
News reports this weekend indicate that JR Ewing’s funeral will air on March 11, 2013. The funeral was put into an already devised second season storyline. Producers had to change the storyline to accommodate the change.
Hagman died last November at age 81. But the TNT special will reportedly feature some original Dallas cast members returning, just for the funeral, cast members who have yet to visit the new TNT series.
Producers have yet to indicate what cause of death they will give JR Ewing. Some reports claim that Hagman had shot the entire second season, while other reports claim he only completed six of fifteen episodes prior to his passing.
Fans were critical of TNT in 2011 for confirming news of the new Dallas but not delivering it until 2012. TNT confirmed news of the show in February 2011 but didn’t deliver it until 2012. Hagman played the role first on CBS from 1978 to 1991 until returning to the part last summer for TNT.
