CORAL GABLES (LALATE) – A Navy SEAL has died of an apparent suicide. US Navy SEAL Commander Job Price died on an apparent suicide on Saturday, CNN is reporting. The Pentagon has yet to rule the death as a suicide. But officials confirm the cause of death is under investigation. Price was a commander of SEAL Team 4 operations.
Price died Saturday in Afghanistan. He was currently handling U.S. affairs in Uruzgan Province, Afghanistan. The SEAL died of a “non-combat related injury while supporting stability operations in (central) Uruzgan province, Afghanistan,” a Defense Department news statement indicated last weekend.
Capt. Robert Smith, Commander of Naval Special Warfare Group Two, issued a news statement Sunday about the matter. “As we mourn the loss and honor the memory of our fallen teammate, those he served with will continue to carry out the mission.” Smith added “The Naval Special Warfare family is deeply saddened by the loss of our teammate…We extend our condolences, thoughts and prayers to the family, friends, and NSW community during this time of grieving.”
Price was married with one daughter. The 42 year old of Pottstown, Pa was stationed out of Virginia Beach, Virginia.
