BEVERLY HILLS (LALATE) – If you wonder what did Brandy say about Adrienne Maloof’s family, Bravo is not going to tell you. After two weeks of fans asking what did Brandy say about Adrienne Maloof and her family, it has become apparent that Bravo, Maloof, Paul Nassif, and Brandi Glanville are not going to tell viewers. But for now, Bravo is prompting debate for eliciting ratings over the controversy while never repeating the remarks in the show.
Brandi Glanville said something about Adrienne Maloof’s family that allegedly warranted the intervention of Malooff’s attorneys, the editing out of her remarks by Bravo, and the removal of any repeating of the comments by fellow housewives by Bravo, claims Glanville. But a quick perusal of BravoTv.com shows the irony at play.
While Bravo is not going to air the remarks, it will allow viewers to repeat the alleged remarks in the comment sections of BravoTv.com, over and over again. Hence, Bravo is not staying away from the controversy made by the remarks. It is using the controversy into commercial promotions, website headers and other marketing vehicles for this month’s program. In essence, Bravo is attracting attention to the remarks by allowing viewers to repeat what they believe are the reported remarks online.
But what were the remarks? One website ran a purported exclusive claiming that the remarks concerned Adrienne Maloof directly and her children. But since then, other websites have accused that as being a false news story, claiming that the remarks were far different.
Viewers of RHOBH are very savvy. They have heard Adrienne Maloof talk this season about her pregnancies and her cesarean baby births. They have read about Maloof and Nassif’s allegations against each other during the divorce proceedings which followed these taped scenes. They have read about that selling off of the family house quickly during the divorce process and the quick resolution of the couple’s divorce case.
And yet, viewers are not too pleased with Bravo. Even if Bravo is wishing to leave viewers in the dark about the real remarks, other remarks about other housewives haven’t been edited out over the years.
Earlier this year, RHONJ viewers were irate after a false storyline aired wrongly claiming that Melissa Gorga is a former dancer. Melissa was never a dancer, and yet the allegations were aired over and over again on New Jersey. Last season, RHOBH watched as Brandi claimed that Kim Richards used non prescription substances, an assertion Richards denied.
Bravo has at the same time tackled serious issues across all its shows and never edited those comments out of the telecast. Just this week, Bravo aired the surrogate pregnancy storyline of Lisa Hochstein. Lisa won fan praise for discussing surrogacy issues and her trouble getting pregnant on national television. “We have unfortunately suffered miscarriages, failed IVF attempts, acupuncture, and even tried a surrogate with no success. We of course will not give up and plan on doing everything we can until we have our family. I know and believe it will happen.”
Bravo has aired countless episodes about cheating allegations. Last season, Joe Giudice was portrayed as possibly cheating on Teresa, a claim both denied. “Joe’s and my 12 year wedding anniversary is next month & we wanted to put the rumors to rest once and for all so we got married again!”
Beyond issues like surrogate babies (Hochstein, Camille Grammer) and cheating allegations (Teresa Giudice), Bravo has aired issues about money troubles with cast member like Lynne Curtin, divorce with Tamra Barney and others, spousal abuse with Taylor Armstrong, and trouble with children like NeNe Leakes’ son. And while remarks about other Housewives families have aired, for Adrienne Maloof, the comments were edited out, at least for now.
