Officials tell news that the shaking began with a 5.1 magnitude shortly after 3:16 pm In the next three hours, three more quakes would erupt, including a 5.9 magnitude quake. Officials indicate to news that the latest quake began shortly after 7:52 PM local time today.
LALATE reported days earlier another Chile quake striking off the coast. Today’s quake had the same approximate epicenter, officials tell news. The quake began six miles below sea level. As a result, the quake, was not in a densely populated region.
But officials tell news that the quake was thirty-four miles southwest of San Antonio. The quake began thirty-seven miles southwest of Cartagena and forty-nine miles west of Melipilla. USGS also indicates to news that the quake was fifty-seven miles northwest of Santa Cruz.
Mapping reveals the quake was north of Parral and Talca. The quake was west of Currico and south of San Felipe.
