ST LOUIS (LALATE) – A Ronald Scott Catt mistake lefta father, son, and daughter arrested Thursday. Ronald Scott Catt made a critical error, police tell news, that ended with the father, his son, and his daughter behind bars this holiday season facing a bail ruling of nearly a half million dollars.
What happened to Ronald Scott Catt, his wife, and that fateful visit to a Home Depot? Friends of Catt tell news that he was a loving father back in Oregon. He had lost his wife in recent years and had suffered a bankruptcy. Friends say that Catt was a dedicated father.
Yet, Ronald Scott Catt, 50, Hayden Catt, 20, and Abby Catt, 18, are now accused of a two state crime spree of multiple bank robberies. The robberies were carried about by the father and son with Abby as the getaway driver, officials tell news.
The father and son were arrested for one initial caper. But the crime spree was broken after the father made a faithful error. He went to the Home Depot in Rosenberg to obtain orange vests. The vests were part of a disguise for an upcoming burglary.
The father also made the error of choosing the Home Depot closest to the local Sheriff’s Office. And even worse, he decided to pay for the vests not with cash but with a debit card. By the end, investigators had a surveillance video and card purchase to link the family to the crime.
Abby Catt is behind bars being held on one hundred thousand dollar bond. The men are each being held on one hundred forty thousand bond. In total, police believe the family committed seven bank robbery cases in two states.
