LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – A kitten trapped in a statue has been rescued by staffers. The kitten, now named “Abe”, was stuck inside the statue of Abraham Lincoln for three days. But officials are still unsure how it got up in there.
Officials tell news Abe is not up for adoption. John Zweifel, the curator of the museum where Abe was found, wants to be kitten’s proud owner.
Humane Society spokesman Daniel Davis told WKMG that it’s unclear how Abe got into the statue. But recently Presidents Hall of Fame staffers heard the kitty cat crying. Slowly thereafter, they determined that Abe had meandered into the top of the replica Lincoln Memorial.
Responding animal search and rescue personnel had to deploy local fire officials to assist. After a hole was made into the statue, Abe was rescued. But despite his three days in the statue, Abe is doing just fine.
