ST LOUIS (LALATE) – A Garland Fire 2012 has struck Nexeo Solutions, formerly Ashland Chemical Plant. The Garland Fire erupted today November 16, 2012 shortly after 3:30 pm local time.
Officials on the Garland Fire have yet to indicate the cause of the fire. Officials tells news that the former Ashland Chemical Plant was sold to Ashland Chemical over a year ago.
NBC is reporting that the fire is situated in the 3000 block of Wood Lane in Garland. Garland Fire Capt. Merrill Balancier is concerned that the fire may react poorly due to water sprays being employed. The fire can be seen from Dallas, local news is reporting.
Moreover, NWS officials tell news that the fire is now seven thousand feet above the area. Plumes blowing five miles per hour to the west are being spotted by news helicopters.
No individuals have been injured. “Additionally, firefighters are trying to keep the fire from spreading to the west, where tanker cars on rail lines contain chemicals that pose a significant risk of exploding”, NBC is reporting. A news briefing by officials is expected momentarily. Nexeo has yet to comment to news about the matter.
