LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – A massive Mexico earthquake today 2012 has just struck. The terremoto en Mexico hoy, a temblor registering 7.5 magnitude, has just struck this Wednesday, November 07, 2012. No tsunami alert has been issued. The Chiapas, Mexico terremoto was close to Guatemala, El Salvador, and neighboring countries.
Officials tell news that a 7.5 magnitude quake struck moments ago at 8:35 am PST. The quake had a nominal depth. USGS indicates to news that the quake was only twenty-one miles below sea level. As a result, the quake could be felt across the region.
The quake struck off the coast of Guatemala and Mexico. Officials tell news that the quake was thirty-nine miles south of Suchiate, Chiapas, Mexico. The quake was fifty-three miles southwest of Retalhuleu, Guatemala as well. USGS indicates to news that the quake was sixty-three miles from Chiapas, Mexico and Suchitepéquez, Guatemala. Preliminary reports put the quake roughly one hundred miles west of Guatemala City, Guatemala.
Mapping puts the quake northwest of El Salvador, west of Honduras, and southwest of Belize. The quake was southeast of the Mexican town of Salina Cruz, Oaxaca, and Veracruz.
No reports of injuries have yet to be indicated by local news.
In September, a 6.2 magnitude quake struck Baja California, about forty-seven miles north of La Paz in Baja. The quake was also ninety-six miles from Constitución. It was the same distance from the Sinaloa town of Ahome, officials told news. The quake was, however, roughly seven hundred miles from Tijuana.
