New Jersey Earthquake Today 2012 Felt in New York


LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – A New Jersey earthquake today 2012 has been felt in New York. A light but shallow New Jersey earthquake erupted today Monday, November 05, 2012 shortly after midnight. The quake struck the same area hit by Hurricane Sandy.

Officials tell news that a 2.0 magnitude New Jersey earthquake began today shortly after 1:19 am local time. The quake, however, had a nominal depth near a densely populated region. USGS indicates to news that the quake struck only three miles below the earth’s surface. As a result, the quake could be felt across the immediate vicinity.

USGS reports to news that the New Jersey earthquake struck two miles from Ringwood. The quake was three miles northeast of Oakland and four miles north of Franklin Lakes, home to some of the Real Housewives of New Jersey filming last season. The quake was also twelve miles of Paterson and thirty miles from New York.

Mapping reveals the quake was northwest of Manhattan, southeast of Middletown. The quake was centered west of 287 passing through Mahway. The quake was close to the Rampago Valley Reservation, west of Bergen County Administrative Departments and just west of Darlington Park, Ramsey and Allendale. No reports of damage have yet to be indicated by local news.
