ST LOUIS (LALATE) – Stelen Covel, Toby Keith’s son, has become a high school football star. Toby Keith’s son (photo above) has been selected to 2013 Eastbay Youth All-American Bowl to represent the United States. Covel will play the defensive lineman for the team. He takes to the field with a 6′1′ stature and 230 lbs.
Stelen’s game is January 6 at the Alamodome in San Antonio. This is the fifth year for the big game. Stelen is a Norman North sophomore. Also making the team are Luther Harris, Terrell Love Jr., and Austin Quillen.
Keith told news this week “It has been a true pleasure coaching the team and spending the time with my son.” He added “Having the Mud Dogs become undefeated champions is just icing on the cake.” Cameron Smith reports that the selection of Covel gives him a “solid start” as a high school player hoping for a big college future.
In June this year, cornerback Justin Combs, son of Sean Diddy Combs, prompted controversy after he was given a $54,000 athletic scholarship which is based upon grades, not financial situation. Before the controversy, Diddy told news that his son committing to UCLA was a big honor. “As a parent, today is one of the proudest moments of my life. This is everything a father could want for his son, for him to excel at what he loves to do and is truly passionate about. Justin is a shining example of what hard work, determination and a strong mentality can achieve. I am honored to call him my son and am happy that he is fulfilling his dream.”
