Manchester United vs. Galatasaray 2012 Battle in Champions League Showdown

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Manchester United vs. Galatasaray 2012 will kick off tomorrow (live score below) as Man United’s Champions League season debut. Man United comes off a great start this summer in the Premier League. But can they also deliver success on the first phase match of the Champions League this Wednesday?
Manchester United’s only surprise this summer has been the team’s loss to Everton in its Premier League debut. In that match, Man United was held scoreless after Marouane Fellaini delivered a goal for Everton at the fifty-seven minute mark. Man United, however, dominated time of possession; the team had the ball sixty-nine percent of the time. But they took less shots on goal than Everton.
In Man United’s second showdown of the Premier League season, Robin Van Persie dominated news with a strike only ten minutes into the game. The team went on to defeat Fulham on the road, after producing goals form Kagawa and Rafael.
Last week, at home, Man United continued its winning streak. The team defeated Southampton with a one point difference. That, of course, was the Robin Van Persie hat trick game which denied Rickie Lambert and Morgan Schneiderlin a win.
But the real stunner was last weekend. Man United delivered Wigan Athletic a 4-0 victory on the road after Javier Hernandez scored at the sixty-three minute mark. He was joined in scoring by Paul Scholes, Nick Powell and Alexander Büttner .
Today, Sir Alex Ferguson told news Man United news that his key is fitness. “I think the key is to keep the defenders fit,” said Sir Alex at Tuesday’s press conference. “I mean that. We had a rough ride with defenders being injured in the last two or three years. If they remain fit that gives us a better opportunity.†For live score updates, click HERE.
