ST LOUIS (LALATE) – Broncos vs. Falcons 2012 will deliver a Monday Night Football showdown tonight from the Georgia Dome, start time 8:30 pm. Peyton Manning battles Matt Ryan on the road in the second MNF installment of the season. But can Manning deliver a win this evening as impressive as his Sunday night primetime showdown one week ago?
Broncos vs. Falcons 2012 (live score below) kicks off tonight on the ESPN channel with both teams seeking a second win in week two. Ryan delivered a spotless performance against the Chiefs in week one. He went twenty-three of thirty-one on passing, delivering three touchdowns, no interceptions, and an average of ten yards per play. Ryan also impressed news with twenty-five rushing yards, one resulting in a touchdown.
Manning, in contrast, was impeccable against the Steelers in his NFL debut on Sunday two weeks ago. He went nineteen of twenty-six on passing, delivering two hundred fifty-three yards, two touchdowns, no interceptions, and ten yards per pass.
Ryan’s rushing game, however, did not impress news last week. He delivered only eighty-four total yards against Kansas City, a total of four yards per rush. Manning wasn’t that much better, delivering only three yards per rush on seventy-five total yards against the Steelers.
The key for Ryan will be to watch the late start by the Broncos. Manning was slow in the first half, only delivering one touchdown. Manning’s only first half numbers in week one came from a seven yard rush by Knowshon Moreno in the second quarter.
But in the third and especially fourth quarters, Manning ignited. He connected with Demaryius Thomas for a seventy-one yard touchdown pass. Then in the fourth quake, Manning delivered a one yard touchdown pass to Jacob Tamme followed by a twenty-six yard touchdown run by Matt Prater.
Manning will, however, need to be prepared for the Falcons’ versatility. The team scored in every quarter of its opener against the Chiefs. In the first, Ryan connected with Julio Jones for an eight yard touchdown pass. Then Matt Bryant delivered his own thirty-four yard touchdown run.
In the second, Ryan delivered another winner to Jones, a fourteen yard touchdown pass. And then Bryant came back with his second touchdown run. In the third, Ryan impressed news with his five yard touchdown run followed by a seven yard touchdown pass to Tony Gonzalez. And then in the fourth, Bryant delivered a pair of two more touchdown runs. For live score updates tonight, click HERE.
