Chile Earthquake Today 2012 Strikes Outside of Arauco

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – A strong Chile earthquake today 2012 has struck outside of Arauco. The Chile terremoto Thursday August 30, 2012 erupted in the predawn morning hours. No reports of injuries have yet to be detailed by local news.
Compared to recent Chile quakes, this one was not centered out in the water. Rather the quake erupted only one mile from Arauco. USGS indicates to news that a 4.9 magnitude Chile quake erupted today shortly before 4:05 AM local time. The quake, however, was both on-land and of nominal depth. USGS details to news that the quake was only centered less than ten kilometers below the earth’s surface.
That the quake was one mile west of Arauco. It was also centered roughly twenty miles northwest of Curanilahue and Lota. The quake could reportedly be felt west in Coronel. USGS also tells news that the quake was approximately three hundred miles southwest of Santiago.
This is the latest in a series of quakes to strike Chile this summer. OnJune 7 a 5.8 magnitude temblor struck the region. That quake was located in the Maule region of Chile.
A month later, 5.0 magnitude quake erupted Friday, July 6, 2012 shortly after 2 am local time. The July quake made news as one of the strongest temblors to strike Chile this summer. The terremoto was centered eighteen miles east of the Chile town of Chonchi. The quake was twenty miles east of Castro, thirty-five miles northeast of Puerto Quellon.
