Trinity Ridge Fire: Featherville Neighboring Wildfire Expands in Idaho

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – The Trinity Ridge Fire (fire map below) continues its Featherville advance today. Officials battling the Trinity Ridge Fire report that Featherville remains on continued watch today as two fire fronts move through the region.
Major evacuations on the Featherville area were issued Saturday. Those evacuations could expand today. On Saturday, residents int the Featherville area, from Baker’s Acres south to Grouse Creek near the Paradise subdivision, all were given mandatory orders to evacuate by the Elmore County Sheriff Office.
Today Incident Commander Rich Harvey reports that the Idaho wildfire is only five percent contained. The fire has grown to eighty-eighth thousand acres Sunday. Officials tell news that they are trying keep “point protection and structure protection in the Pine/Featherville corridor.” They will continue Sunday to use “indirect line construction from the middle and north forks of the Boise River between Alexander Flats and Barber Flat.”
Red Flag Warnings for Sunday are also causing a concern for the area. Officials state that the “strong winds…higher humidity, lower temperatures and smoky conditions” could advance the fire today as well.
New mandatory evacuation orders were issued for Dutch Creek, Swanholm, Weatherby and Queen River Campgrounds. Road closures were announced to news for Road 227 at the county line, Highway 20 at FH 61, and Lester Creek Rd at Lake Creek Rd. For the latest fire map and updates, click HERE.
