Carmike Cinema Bomb Threats Today 2012 Target “Expendables 2″

ST LOUIS (LALATE) – Carmike Cinema has been receiving bomb threats today August 17, 2012 at locations across the country. Carmike Cinema confirms to news that they believe one bomb threat was made by a former employee. But reports are being received in Tennessee, Georgia, Kentucky, Illinois and North Carolina as well. The threats are targeting screenings of “Expendables 2″.
Officials would not report whether the threats are related or not. First, in Tennessee, police told news that a swift inspection of the facility found no cause for alarm. Police took a “precautionary measure” and “found nothing out of order.”
Second, a “generic bomb threat” was reportedly received at Carmike’s headquarters. The facility is located in Columbus, Ga..
Third, police confirm that threats where received in Morris, Illinois as well. A bomb sniffing dog was on scene Friday. “There could be nine theaters in Central Illinois that we’re talking about. But we’re worried about Morris, Illinois,” Harvey Van Cleave, assistant chief for Morris Police Department, said in a news statement to FOX today.
Police have yet to identify any suspects in today’s activities. The nature of the threats have not yet been released to news.
Terrell Mayton, the director of marketing for Carmike Cinemas, issued a news statement today indicating the threats all were target at locations showing “The Expendables 2″. “It opens this weekend and perhaps that’s part of generating attention for this individual or individuals, which is what they’re looking for.”
