Spice Girls, One Direction Olympics Closing Ceremony 2012 Boasts Major Lineup

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – The Spice Girls and One Direction will perform in the Olympics Closing Ceremony 2012. But the Olympics lineup is much longer than that, reports British news today. Queen with Brian May, Jessie J, Madness, Pet Shop Boys and Russell Brand will reportedly appear during the performance. Also purportedly taking the stage will be The Who, George Michael and Take That. Spotted rehearsing has been Taio Cruz, Tinie Tempah, Suggs of Madness, and Annie Lennox. But still uncertain is the Rolling Stones.
The list of performers taking the stage has not been announced by organizers to news. But a series of performers have been reported by U.S. and British news, while others have been spotted rehearsing. Posh Spice, Baby Spice, Ginger Spice, Sporty Spice and Scary Spice will emerge during the show, entering the stadium atop modified London cabs.
David Arnold, the closing ceremony’s musical director, calls the show “A Symphony of British Music”. Replicas of the Tower Bridge and St Paul’s Cathedral will appear during the number.
Already spotted rehearsing allegedly have been Brian May, the Pet Shop Boys, Jessie J, Annie Lennox, Tinie Tempah and George Michael, and Take That. The Daily Mail reports that indie band Muse, Blur, and Ed Sheeran will also perform. There will be appearances by British models as well: Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Lily Cole and Stella Tennant.
“To me, this should be the greatest after-party in the world,” Arnold told the Telegraph. “If the Opening Ceremony was the wedding, then we’re the wedding reception.” It’s more theatrical than a concert because it covers every inch of the stadium,” Arnold added. “Hopefully, it will be a big party.”
