ORANGE COUNTY (LALATE EXCLUSIVE) – Are Gretchen Rossi, Tamra Barney, and Heather Dubrow going to be joined by three new housewives for the next season of RHOC? Rossi, Barney, and Dubrow are dominating news predictions for housewives likely invited back to RHOC next season. Many, however, believe that Vicki Gunvalson will return as well. But when the new cast for RHOC is announced in the coming months, fans should expect a surprise.
If RHONY and RHOM casting changes are any indication, fans should expect three to four new Orange County Housewives coming to Bravo soon.
While Bravo never officially confirms to news who is returning to its franchise until the season’s debut, it appears likely that Rossi, Barney and Dubrow are sure things for next season. They have delivered the top ratings during the 2012 season because of new allegiances and relationships that prompted debate. But with several new RHOC cast members possibly joining the cast, the drama is just beginning.
In 2011, LALATE reported extensively how producers were having trouble finding a cohesive relationship between RHOC cast members that would delivered ratings. At the end of the 2011 season, producers found there wasn’t much of a feud between Rossi and Barney remaining. To create conflict, producers reintroduce Jeana Keough for a multi-episode arch that catapulted ratings in the final episodes because of her feud with Tamra Barney.
This season, however, producers got it right from the first episode. Viewers soon saw that Barney and Rossi were friends, a revelation actually explained months earlier on Facebook by the two stars. The addition of Heather Dubrow resonated with viewers. Dubrow, who quickly became friends with Rossi and Barney, provided a contrast that added to the depth of the show.
But despite all that, two words this season resonated a powerful draw for ratings, for better or worse: Brooks Ayers. The introduction of Brooks Ayers spurred ratings because of viewers generally negative reaction to his on-screen personality.
Yet, the future for Vicki remains in doubt. One report claims that Briana, Vicki’s daughter, could be replacing her in the cast. That seems highly unlikely. Since Briana’s conflict is with her mother, Bravo would have to keep both women in the cast to further that storyline.
Bravo has already sent out casting notices for a new RHOC cast. If they invite Gunvalson back, it’s likely that Bravo will add not one but three new cast members to RHOC. If Vicki is out, expect four new cast members to begin filming in the coming months.
In the last twelve months, Bravo has slashed the New York cast to add three new women and cut the Miami cast to add four new women. Reports claim that Miami’s cast was overhauled because of production issues while New York was revamped because of salary demands that Bravo allegedly didn’t want to make. So who is not returning to RHOC next season?
