Robin Roberts Takes GMA Medical Leave for Myelodysplastic Syndrome Treatment

ST LOUIS (LALATE) – Robin Roberts is taken a medical leave from Good Morning America to seek treatment for her bone marrow disease. Robin Roberts tells news that she will not be leaving GMA permanently, rather temporarily to treat her myelodysplastic syndrome.
Roberts tells news “The run that we’ve had has truly energized me… It’s pretty good medicine, I gotta say, to be taking!” She also adds “It’s fascinating-slash-scary how to prepare yourself for something like this”. ABC News president Ben Sherwood has indicated that Barbara Walters, Diane Sawyer, Katie Couric, Kelly Ripa, and members of the View will fill in for Roberts during her treatment.
Robin previously told news “I’ve been living with this diagnosis for awhile and will continue to anchor GMA.” Sherwood has also said “She is the captain of our GMA team; she has been the keystone of our recent victories; and she will lead the program for many years to come.”
Robin earlier told viewers that her condition came from cancer treatment. “Sometimes treatment for cancer can lead to other serious medical issues. That’s what I’m facing right now”.
