Madonna, Marine Le Pen Image Prompts France National Front Lawsuit

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Madonna is being sued for using images of Marine Le Pen during her concert. Madonna’s photos of French National Front leader Marine Le Pen during a recent concert stop in France will prompt legal action this week. But the trouble might be far from over for Madonna.
Florian Philippot, the FN’s vice-president, tells news that she will seek private criminal, not civil, prosecution of Madonna. Le Pen had previously heard of the Madonna stunt in Israel. After that performance, she allegedly informed Madonna’s legal team to cease and desist from the depiction of Le Pen’s imagery to promote Madonna’s music. Madonna allegedly didn’t listen.
Le Pen called Madonna at the time an “old” singer allegedly resorting to publicity gimmicks. “We understand how old singers who need to get people talking about them go to such extremes.”
Le Pen told news that if Madonna used her images again in France the singer would get sued. “If she does that in France, we’ll be waiting”.
Mr. Philippot in a news statement said “This is just another provocation in Madonna’s world tour so that people will talk about her. Marine Le Pen will defend not only her own honour but her supporters and the millions of National Front voters.” Philippot tells news that a “private plaintiff’s case for insult” will get filed in the next few days.
Madonna has yet to comment about the matter.
