Jennifer Bricker, Dominique Moceanu Sister, Revealed in New Biography
LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Jennifer Bricker, Dominique Moceanu’s sister (photo above), is revealed in a new book by the gymnast called Off Balance. Dominique Moceanu’s long-lost sister was a secret to the Olympic gymnast until just five years ago. Now Bricker and Moceanu are opening up about their renewed relationship.
Unbeknownst to Dominique Moceanu, she was one of three daughters. She had lived her life, however, believing that she had only one sister, Christina, born in 1989. In her new biography, the gymnast claims her parents were poor growing up and made a critical decision years decades earlier.
Secretly, in 1987, her parents had a second child. That middle sister was born without legs.
Moceanu claims that, when faced with the expensive medical bills to tend for the middle child, her parents decided to give up the middle child (Jennifer) for adoption to protect the financial situation for the remaining sisters.
Moceanu tells news about her reaction to the revelation. “Jennifer would have been the middle sister. Why was she given up for adoption when Christina and I were allowed to stay?”
Moceanu says that she didn’t find out until 2007. But her sister was told at age 16. Four years later, Jennifer decided to contact Moceanu.
“Jennifer had always known that she was of Romanian heritage, but that it wasn’t until she was turning sixteen that her adoptive parents decided to share the details of her birth”. Finally Jennifer made the call. “They revealed to her the names of her biological parents, and me, her biological sister. She wrote that she had been waiting four years to contact me directly.”
The two are now super close. Bricker now tells ABC “It’s so much fun every time the three of us get together. And I can’t believe this crazy life is my crazy life. And by crazy, I mean awesome!”
