ORANGE COUNTY (LALATE) – When the Real Housewives of Orange County Reunion 2012 airs tonight, one question won’t be resolved. Who is leaving Real Housewives of Orange County, who is not returning for a new season, and which RHOC cast member might end up getting fired?
For months, LALATE has been reporting that it will be unlikely the entire current Real Housewives of Orange County cast returns next season. By all accounts, Tamra Barney, Gretchen Rossi and Heather Dubrow are likely to be all invited back by Bravo. Barney is working on new businesses, Rossi has since launched a series of new products and an actor career for Telemundo, and Dubrow has resonated very well with viewers.
Vicki Gunvalson, in turn, has been a big ratings draw this season because of her Brooks storyline. Vicki has previously told news that she has felt the pressure to compete with younger, and newer female cast members. She believed that she has lasted so long on RHOC because she is far more open about her life than other women, so she claims.
But it’s Vicki’s relationship with Brooks this season has been a major ratings draw for Bravo, suggesting that the network might see favorably to bring her back for needed conflict.
Bravo on Housewives franchises consistently have sent out casting notices before sending renewal notices to current Housewives. Some housewives have said that the tactic is to dissuade current cast members against salary demands during contract negotiations.
This week, a new RHOC casting notice surfaced. But are cast members being let go? And will old cast members get a raise?
If any cast member is brought back, they could get a major salary increase. Housewives earned seven-thousand five hundred per season in earlier seasons. By 2010, Housewives were getting $360,000 per season.
Those salaries jumped dramatically in 2012. Last season on RHOA, Nene Leakes got one million dollars, Kim Zolciak got seven hundred fifty thousand dollars. Rounding out the cast were Sheree ($700,000), Kandi ($550,000), and Phaedra and Cynthia ($375,000).
