LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Jun Lin’s head is believed to have been found by Luka Rocco Magnotta investigators. Luka Rocco Magnotta has been charged with Jun Lin’s murder. Officials had previously told news that Magnotta may have decapitated his victim. But after weeks of searching, police told news today they may have found more of Lin’s decapitated body parts.
Luka Rocco Magnotta was arrested June 4 and returned to Canada fourteen days later. Lin’s midsection was found discarded in trash in May, his hands and feet mailed to political parties days later in Canada. But since then, investigators have continued their search. They initially told news that the absence of Lin’s head make identification difficult in the murder case.
While a memorial was offered for Lin by family members just last week, investigators tell The Gazette that they have now found Lin’s head, inside Montreal’s Angrignon Park. The discovery came after a unidentified tip to investigators.
Official tell news that it will take one week to confirm Lin’s identity. “It’s too early to confirm if this finding has anything to do with the homicide,” said police Constable Anie Lemieux to The Gazette. “We’re waiting on lab results to determine whether what we found are human remains.”
Behind Luka Rocco Magnotta’s home, investigators previously found Lin’s torso dismembered, tossed in a garbage dump. Officials in Ottawa and Montreal told news at the time that they identified the hands and feet belonging to the same man. When a joint task force of Ottawa and Montreal police went to Luka Rocco Magnotta’s home, they found a mattress covered in blood.
