Joe Giudice Jail Possibility Looms for Teresa Giudice

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Teresa Giudice’s husband, Joe Giudice, confronted a looming jail plea deadline this week. And yet Joe Giudice and Teresa Giudice had no comment for news about the deadline. Nor did Passaic County Chief Assistant Prosecutor Jay Mc Cann who has previously advocated for jail time for Joe under any plea deal.
While Joe and Teresa Giudice dealt this week on Real Housewives with the collapse of Teresa’s friendship with the Manzos and Lauritas, off camera Joe and Teresa remained silent about another trouble in their lives. On May 29, 2012, local news reported an update in the Joe Giudice criminal trial.
Giuseppe “Joe” Giudice had appeared in court that week alongside his attorney for a status update in his criminal case. Superior Court Judge Greta Gooden Brown in Paterson that day told Giudice that he had already given him “a lot of time” previously to consider a pending plea deal with prosecutors in his criminal case.

But after Joe Giudice’s criminal attorney Miles Feinstein asked the court for four to six more weeks to continue negotiations, the Court granted that extension. Passaic County Chief Assistant Prosecutor Jay Mc Cann agreed to the extension.
And with that, Judge Brown ordered the prosecutor and Giudice back to Court on June 27, 2012. But last week, Mc Cann did not update local news about what has since happened.
The Court previously ruled in May that this would be the final extension for the parties to reach a plea deal. After that deadline, if the parties had not reached an agreement, the Court would set the case for a trial date. So was an agreement reached? None of the parties are telling news.
Giudice is facing two charges, the first being the more serious. He is charged with a second degree charge, that carries a possible ten year prison term if convicted, and a fourth degree charge, which carries an 18 month jail term if convicted.
Mc Cann has previously told news that Giudice is seeking a probation plea. But Mc Cann has previously told news that he would not agree to any plea offer that did not include some jail time. The amount of jail time remains in question.
The case stems from Joe’s actions in January of 2010. He was arrested that day and later convicted of a DUI offense. He then learned his license was suspended. During the time that Joe was running the pizzeria, he then drove with a suspended license. He was arrested again.
Joe at the time served ten days in jail inside Morris County, New Jersey jail. But then, police claim that Joe took his brother’s Pietro Giudicie’s marriage and birth certificate to allegedly attempt to get a fraudulent driver’s license at the Paterson, N.J. DMV.

Last week, Teresa said she turned to Dina Manzo after her trouble with the Lauritas. “After I left Jacqueline’s house, I went to [Jacqueline’s sister-in-law] Dina’s house. I broke down. I was so hurt and Dina was just listening to me. That’s what a friend does.”
Joe at the time told his wife to ignore Caroline and Jacqueline and just move on. He said last week “I don’t care. I already told you what to do. Just move on.”

But Melissa Gorga told viewers last week “I want to be optimistic that Teresa joined in on our family lovefest because she wanted to be by her family.” She added “I don’t want to think that maybe she just had an argument with her girlfriends so now she’s coming this way. I don’t care. We’re still here for you.”
