CORAL GABLES (LALATE) – Casey Anthony had a St George Island, Florida hideaway after her release from jail. Casey Anthony St George Island spotting dominated local news in July 2011. But at the same time, reports claimed that Anthony had been in Ohio and California. In a new book, Jose Baez tells news that Anthony did not leave Florida for Ohio and California initially. Rather she first went to St. George Island.
Since Anthony’s release from jail, purported “Casey Anthony” hideaway stories have dominated news. Many of them have been the result of the National Enquirer, and never confirmed by her legal team. In June, a Casey Anthony Costa Rica hideaway claim dominated the tabloid. That Costa Rica story was virtually identical to a fall 2011 story, from the same tabloid, about a Mexico hideaway.
In August, a series of reports claimed that Anthony had been in Ohio since July 2011. That month, one reader claimed that Anthony had been in Youngstown that week. “Casey Anthony was spotted by me at Handles Ice cream…” wrote an LALATE reader from Youngstown in August 2011. “I yelled out “Casey” she turned and hurried to a waiting car so the good people of y-town [Youngstown heard it].”
But in a new book hitting newsstands this week entitled “Presumed Guilty, Casey Anthony: The inside Story”, Jose Baez claims that, at least initially, Anthony did not go to California nor Ohio. Rather she went to St. George Island, Florida.
Baez tells news and readers that, after leaving jail, Anthony first went for cheeseburger and friends from Steak n Shake near the courthouse. After that, Anthony boarded a private jet for St. George Island, Florida.
Baez claims that Anthony later travelled to New York thereafter. Baez has yet to indicate the purpose of the New York trip. But news reports at the time claimed that Anthony was pitching media deals with TV news networks at the time.
But how did Anthony get to St George Island? In July 2011, WCTV first reported news that Anthony was on St George Island. “WCTV has confirmed that the plane that Casey Anthony left Orlando on landed on St. George Island today at 1:11 p.m. Flight records shows that plane left Baton Rouge Metro at 10:37 am CST and landed on the island’s private airstrip.” The news channel claimed that “the plane is owned by California attorney Todd Macaluso, one of Anthony’s former lawyers”.
The same news report claimed that Anthony was staying inside a rented home, inside a gate community called The Plantation. Anthony’s current legal team is not commenting about Baez’s book.
