CORAL GABLES (LALATE) – The former Michael Vick dog Ellen is dead at age 11. Ellen was one of Michael Vick’s dogs rescued by authorities from his property in 2007. Today, the Best Friends Animal Society tells news that the pit bull was euthanized last weekend after a sudden illness. The revelation comes just days before Vick’s weddding to Kijafa Fink (photos below).
Officials are still unsure what prompted Ellen’s illness. The former Vick dog had suddenly grown sick this month, dropping weight dramatically. Last weekend, officials decided to euthanized Ellen.
Ellen dominated news after her recovery from Vick’s estate five years ago. Many experts thought none of Vick’s dogs, including Ellen, would ever survive.
In total near twenty-four dogs were rescued by the Best Friends Animal Society. Michael Vick has yet to issue a statement about the dog’s passing.
Vick is set to marry Kijafa Frink in South Florida this month. Reports claim that The Fontainebleau Miami Beach will host the nuptials on June 30, 2012.
After being given a three year suspended sentence, Vick told news âI want to apologize to the court, my family, and to all the kids who looked up to me as a role modelâ.
