Portugal vs. Netherlands 2012 Seeks Euro 2012 Group B Win

CORAL GABLES (LALATE) – Portugal vs. Netherlands 2012 will both seek a Euro 2012 Group B win today. But when Portugal vs. Netherlands kicks off (en vivo 2:45 pm EST), fans will be remembering what happened on Saturday. Yesterday, one team that was ranked last in its group defeated its opponent and advanced to the quarterfinals. Netherlands today is hoping to be that team.
Portugal vs. Netherlands will feature the second ranked group B team currently, Portugal with three points, battling the last placed ranked group B team currently, the Netherlands with no points. But with a field this close, an upset could send one underdog to the quarterfinals.
The Netherlands was shut out in its first match this round. But in its second loss, against Germany, Netherlands earned one goal. Portugal, however, has been inconsistent. It opened its first game scoreless but then came back to win in a 2-3 score against Denmark.
The Netherlands will need to improve their scoring game today to advance. Their sole goal in group action so far was by Robin van Persie against Germany at the seventy-three minute mark.
Portugal, as well, only delivered goals against Denmark. Pepe impressed news with an early shot at the twenty-four minute mark, followed by Postiga and finally Varella with the game winning goal at the eighty-seven minute mark.
When it comes to International Friendly matches, however, Portugal has not impressed news analysts this year. In three matches, Portugal hasn’t won an International Friendly game. It earned two draws against Poland and Macedonia and then fell to Turkey this year.
The Netherlands, however, has been exceptional in its International Friendly matches this year. It defeated England in February, then Slovakia and Ireland. Its only loss this year in Friendly action has been against Bulgaria. For live updates today, click HERE.
