Arkansas Fire Map for Colorado Wildfires Prompt Lake George Concern

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – The Arkansas Fire map for the latest Colorado wildfire is prompting concerns for Lake George neighboring residents. The “Arkansas Fire” is quickly growing, Colorado wildfire officials tell news late today June 14, 2012. As a result, new evacuations were issued this afternoon.
Dubbed the “Arkansas Fire”, the latest Colorado wildfire is currently spreading in the central section of the state today. Steven Steel, director of Teller County Office of Emergency Management, tells news that the fire prompted evacuations of two dozen people today. But Pike National Forest spokeswoman Barb Timock tells news that evacuations could also be issued to roughly a dozen more homes.
The fire is being fought the Lake George Fire Protection District. New warning were issued today by Colorado Department of Emergency Management department.
Initial evacuations were issued via reverse 911 for select residents of Park County. But the fire, which started from a lighting strike last night, is still spreading south of Highway 24.
Officials tell news that as many as two hundred firefighters will on scene tonight. Already, two crews and seven engines are battling the blaze. The fire is currently four miles northwest of Camp Alexander.
