Colorado Wildfires Map for High Park Fire Prompts New Evacuations

ST LOUIS (LALATE) – The Colorado wildfires map for the High Park Fire 2012 prompted new evacuations today. The Colorado wildfires situation didn’t improve dramatically today, as the High Park Fire reached only five percent containment Tuesday. But officials tell news that the Colorado wildfires’ spread resulted in new evacuations across the region today.
In a news briefing update today June 12, 2012, officials warned that the Colorado wildfires have reached forty-three thousand acres. Dry fuels are causing this fire to be very extreme and very erratic. While the High Park Fire remains only five percent contained, southwest winds have prompted the fire to make substantial advances in the late afternoon, generally after 3 pm daily.
The fire which begun on Saturday is now being battled by five hundred personnel. They are now aided by new resources dispatched on Monday. Ground efforts are being supplemented by five air tankers, and even three Blackhawk helicopters.
The number of structures destroyed still remains unknown. Officials told news today that structures are believed destroyed in Rist Canyon, Paradise Park, Stove Prairie, Poudre Park, Old Flowers, Stratton Park, Kings Canyon and Cloudy Pass.
On Tuesday, officials told news that one 62-year-old woman was killed by the fire. Today, new evacuations were announced news. Tuesday’s evacuations now include “for Pingree Park Road, Hourglass and Comanche reservoirs, east on Buckhorn Road up to and including Pennock Pass, NE to junction with Stove Prairie and Hwy 14; West to junction with Highway 15 and Pingree Park Road. This evacuation includes Pingree Park Campus and Sky Ranch Lutheran Camp. (25 notification sent).”
Officials are warning news about possible major advancement of the fire tonight. By Tuesday evening, official believe that wind gusts to jump to 18 mph coming out of the southwest.
