Ecuador vs Colombia 2012: Cristian Benitez Delivers Win

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Ecuador vs Colombia 2012 today ended in a 1-0 final score after Cristian Benitez delivered the winning goal halfway through the game. Ecuador vs Colombia 2012 had remained scoreless until the fifty-four minute mark today when Benitez delivered a stunning strike. The game ended an eventful weekend of matches for 2014 World Cup qualifying Conmebol matches.
After the win by Ecuador today, the team solidified itself a current standing of possible qualification of the World Cup. Colombia, however, is currently ranked out of contention.
For Colombia, this June did not go as planned. The team beat last place CONMEBOL team Peru on June 3 with a final score of 0-1. But after today’s loss, Colombia will have to look forward to improvements this fall. Colombia will play only two more games this year, first against Chile in September and then Paraguay in October.
Ecuador, however, made dramatic improvement today compared to its last showing. Earlier in June, Ecuador shocked news with a scoreless loss to Argentina. Last fall, Ecuador, however, split their games, defeating Venezuela and Peru but being defeated by Paraguay. As news analysts reminded fans today, Ecuador will have three more matches in the CONMEBOL this fall, playing Uruguay, Chile and Venezuela again.
