LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Robin Williams is not dead. A fake Robin Williams death story today, however, is angering fans. The false death story comes less than one day after Tyler Perry battled the same. Robin Williams hasn’t fallen to his death in Kitzbühel, Austria. Nor has Williams died in a fabricated Denver Peak-Regional Airport crash today.
Robin Williams’ death story is gaining more traction today because of a notable change. In recent years, fake celebrity death stories about “falls” have most often concerned New Zealand. This one, however, adds a new location and a new victim.
In recent years, MediaFetcher aka Global Associated has written a series of fabricated tales about celebrities falling. But they usually concern New Zealand. The Global Associated tale usually reads “Actor Will Smith died while filming a movie in New Zealand early this morning.”
The website simply swaps in and out Smith’s name for another celebrity’s name. The story usually concerns the Kauri Cliffs. “Preliminary reports from New Zealand Police officials indicate that the actor fell more than 60 feet to his death on the Kauri Cliffs while on-set.”
But the latest Robin Williams fake death story uses a newly invented location: Austria. Global Associated today falsely reprots “Actor Robin Williams died while filming a movie in Kitzbühel, Austria early this morning”. But like the New Zealand fake story, this Global Associated tale also claims the victim is working on a film. “Preliminary reports from Austrian Police officials indicate that the actor fell more than 50 feet to his death in a remote area of the Hahnenkamm mountains while on-set during the filming of a movie. ”
Reba McEntire fans should also be on the lookout. She too is listed as dead today falling from the same hill as Robin Williams. Jeff Goldblum, George Clooney, and others, however, are still erroneous listed dead in fabricated falls from New Zealand. Robin Williams is alive and wasn’t in Austria today.
