LOS ANGELES (LALATE EXCLUSIVE) – Kathy Griffin’s Bravo talk show ratings were flat Wednesday. “Kathy”, the new Kathy Griffin talk show, debuted on Wednesday night on Bravo. And while Griffin was ready to insult celebrities in her routine, there was nothing in her ratings to brag about. But the bad news for Griffin didn’t end there. Griffin failed to hold viewers after Bravo delivered massive ratings numbers with its Real Housewives of Atlanta Reunion Part 2.
Griffin’s “Kathy” talk show had been highly promoted across Bravo in recent months. Griffin has warned celebrities that they better watch her show, because she would be talking about them. But on Wednesday night, more people were watching Pauly D, a wrestling show, and even The Wiener’s Circle, than Griffin’s talkfest.
Kathy Griffin finished nearly last of all cable TV shows for her debut. Griffin finished thirteen of sixteen cable shows tracked that night by Nielsen. She finished the evening with a .987 million viewers for her debut.
Griffin, on her debut night, was beat by the ratings hit the Pauly D Project, Punk’d, Impacting Wrestling, even the Wiener’s Circle.
But the big number was Griffin’s lead-in. Griffin didn’t hold Housewives viewers, whatsoever. Bravo finished with an enormous 2.5 million viewers for part two of its Real Housewives of Atlanta Reunion. The RHOA show was third overall for the night and third in the 18-49 ratings share, one of the biggest nights of the year for a Housewife telecast.
As previously reported on LALATE this month, Bravo has found a massive hit in Shahs of Sunset. As exclusively reported first on LALATE, Bravo quickly picked up Shahs for a second season after its huge numbers. But Bravo has not done well with two other new shows besides Griffin’s talker. Interior Therapy With Jeff Lewis and Million Dollar Listing New York continued to deliver poor numbers this week, finishing twenty-sixth and twenty-fifth overall for their night.
