Jessica Dorrell Arkansas Trooper Details Followed by Bobby Petrino Firing

LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – The Jessica Dorrell scandal has ended with Bobby Petrino being fired. Arkansas trooper details about the Jessica Dorrell – Bobby Petrino wreck were revealed to news this morning. Reports claim that Arkansas will confirm that it has fired Bobby Petrino. After a dramatic change for Arkansas between last Monday and today, officials at a news conference at 8:15 pm EST will confirm that Bobby Petrino has been fired.

Arkansas athletic director Jeff Long will tell news at this evening’s press conference that Petrino has been fired, claims ESPN’s Chris Low. News Channel 3 is reporting the same. While Long’s reason for the firing has not yet been released, several key provisions have been at issue for Petrino. Arkansans’ roughly $3.6 million annual contract with Petrino prohibits conduct “which negatively or adversely affects the reputation of the University or UAF’s athletics programs in any way.” Arkansas previously told news that it was unhappy with Petrino’s failure to disclose key details from his wreck to school officials.

On Thursday, Athletic director Jeff Long placed Petrino on administrative leave. Petrino failed to disclose that Dorrell was on his bike during the crash. As a result, after the Sunday crash, Long issued an erroneous news statement that Petrino was the sole party in the wreck.

Petrino in turn told ASP interviewers, on Arkansas’ campus Tuesday, that he was with Dorrell when he crashed. But between Tuesday and Thursday, it still remained unclear if Long was unaware of Dorrell’s involvement or not. Dorrell’s details were only obtained by news when an ASP police report was issued on Thursday listing Dorrell as the passenger on the back of Petrino’s bike.

Earlier today, Captain Lance King of the Arkansas State Police issued his details to police. The details were not the result of an investigation but following a news request for further clarity about the crash, Dorrell and King’s involvement.

King told news that he didn’t know the female passenger’s name. But he does confirm the same female gave an interview to ASP thereafter. Dorrell, in turn, gave her interview to ASP following Sunday’s crash. Of the female passenger, King said “This white female had blond hair and I think was dressed in jeans. She showed no sign of any injuries. I had never seen this person before in my life.”

The cause of the crash has never been revealed. King says of Petrino “He said nothing about the accident except that a gust of wind blew him off the road. It was obvious that he was in a lot of pain. He kept saying that he thought he had broken his neck.”

Petrino’s wife rushed to the hospital. Petrino did not call his wife, nor did King. It remains unclear what initially prompted Petrino’s wife to call, or if she knew that Bobby Petrino had been involved in the wreck prior to her call. “He told me that it was Becky (Mrs. Petrino) calling. He handed the phone to me and I told her that Coach Petrino had been involved in a motorcycle wreck and was injured”.

King’s sergeant and Mrs. Petrino later arrived at the hospital. “Sergeant Weaver and I stood around talking until Mrs. Petrino and several family members arrived. The first to arrive was Mrs. Petrino, Nick Petrino, his son and Coach Paul Petrino’s wife (unknown name).” He added “I believe that Matt Summer, an athletic trainer, was already there. I talked to Matt about Coach Petrino complaining about possible neck injuries.”

After the crash, Petrino and Dorrell declined assistance from a 911 dispatcher. They left the bike and refused assistance from a witness, ASP has told news. Dorrell would leave Petrino before he headed to the hospital. King’s report does not mention that the female passenger ever returned to the hospital that night.

But in the end, the crashed bike ended up with Mrs. Petrino. “After visiting with Sergeant Weaver a few more minutes, Sergeant Weaver asked me about where the Petrino’s wanted the motorcycle towed. I asked Mrs. Petrino and she asked if it could be towed to her home and that she had left the garage open.”
