ST LOUIS (LALATE) – Mirlande Wilson (photos below) has been revealed while three Mega Millions March 30, 2012 winners remain missing. Mirlande Wilson is not a confirmed Mega Millions March 30, 2012Â winner, yet, representatives confirm to news. But moments ago, Mirlande Wilson told news that she is not producing the ticket she claimed she had. Wilson is set to address news in a press conference Wednesday.
Is Mirlande Wilson one of the three Mega Millions winners who had six of six winning numbers from Friday March 30, 2012 draw? That still remains a mystery today. Initially, Mirlande Wilson told news she had one of three tickets. But after those statements, Mega Millions officials told national news their own opinion of the situation. They said that frequently people come forward to news reporters claiming to own a winning ticket. They said the only proof of winning is showing up with the ticket at Mega Millions headquarters.
So does Mirlande Wilson have one of three tickets? She initially told New York news that she had one of the tickets. But in that news article, she didn’t produce an image of the ticket. Since then, local news has been far more skeptical of her assertions. During subsequent news interviews, Mirlande Wilson has “refused” to show the purported winning ticket she has. In one report, she appeared to backtrack when asked if she even won.
Mirlande Wilson claims she has since retained a lawyer. The lawyer has yet to comment to news nor be identified. Wilson doesn’t state where the ticket is, or if the ticket with her or in her purported attorney’s office.
Wilson’s home has been documented on several local news broadcasts. Reporters have been seen knocking on her front door, right on the street, asking for news comments, and pushing video cameras toward Wilson as she peers out from inside her simple home. British news, fascinated by the controversy, have been running images from Mirlande Wilson’s Facebook profile.
Maryland Lottery official Carole Everette says that everyone can speculate as much as they want about Wilson. But until Wilson shows up with the ticket, there is no answer to the mystery. In total, all three ticket holders haven’t appeared.
But if Wilson has the ticket, there are two other mysteries to her story. First, unconfirmed reports claim that the purported ticket was purchased by Wilson’s alleged male companion, not Wilson. Officials allegedly are aware of video surveillance inside the 7-Eleven showing who exactly made the ticket purchase, Wilson or the male.
Second, if Wilson does have the winning ticket, and if she made the purchase herself, will she have to share the ticket with people in her pool? She claims that she is part of a pool of workers at McDonalds. But she asserts that, when tickets are bought for the pool, everyone gets a copy of the ticket numbers to verify the pool tickets. She says the pool participants knew which tickets were pool tickets far before March 30.
So did Wilson buy a winning ticket? Did her mystery man buy the ticket instead? And will the pool be entitled to share in the proceeds? Wilson is set to hold a news conference today to address these and more unanswered questions in the Mega Millions Mess of 2012.
