ST LOUIS (LALATE) – A Dion Anthony recording in a squad car is shocking Memphis Police. Dion Anthony is a Memphis cop with the Mount Moriah precinct. Today officials are speaking out about what allegedly happened between Anthony and a female, inside his squad car, on March 12, 2012.
Dion Anthony is accused of having relations, with a woman, inside his car, and accidentally broadcasting the entire encounter across his police car console microphone. Dion Anthony had two microphones working that day. One sat on his shoulder and other rested on the console inside his squad car.
On March 12, Dion Anthony alleged had relations with a woman during his evening shift. The encounter allegedly happened inside his squad car. Anthony had turned off his microphone on his shoulder. But he forgot to turn off the microphone on his car’s dash.
Soon, all thirty cops in Dion Anthony’s force were able to hear Anthony and the woman allegedly “interacting”. But the shocker didn’t end there. Dion Anthony was broadcasting the entire episode on a public channel, so anyone with a police scanner was able to listen in and catch the Anthony-hour.
Sgt. Karen Rudolph tells news that the matter “may” have violated police producers. “The allegations do surround inappropriate communications through either his handheld or console mic,” said Rudolph. “We still don’t know the woman in question. Anthony was relieved of duty Tuesday while the department investigates. At last check Friday an MPD hearing on the matter has not yet been set.”
She told Fox 13 “Anytime you communicate via a handheld or console microphone you want to remain professional. Our job is to make sure all officers follow procedures. In this instance it’s possible he didn’t follow proper procedure.”
