ORANGE COUNTY (LALATE EXCLUSIVE) – The new Gretchen Rossi Tamra Barney friendship has done wonders for Real Housewives of Orange County ratings this season. Tuesday’s RHOC ratings are in, and they were close to the massive numbers for the season seven’s premiere, LALATE can exclusively report.
In the earliest seasons of the RHOC series, Bravo would often have trouble getting the franchise to clock over a 1.0 ratings share. Last season, the show initially struggled in the ratings during earlier episodes. By June of 2011, producers reintroduced Jeana Keough into the storyline.
From there, ratings began to move. Real Housewives of OC during season six typically drew an approximate 1.5 ratings share. But the RHOC season six finale in which Keough took on Tamra Barney drew an unprecedented 2.88 ratings share. The finale drew the highest rated episode of the season and seventeen percent increase in viewership since 2010.
But when RHOC returned this February 7 for the season seven premiere, Rossi, Barney and the housewives delivered ratings gold again. The season seven premiere was massive, with a 2.3 million rating share. The premiere was up ten percent compared to the season six premiere.
But as most shows fall in the ratings during later episodes, such was not been the case with RHOC this week, LALATE can report. On Tuesday, RHOC was the number five most watched cable show in the 18-49 age bracket. It finished eighth overall with a massive 2.1 million viewers. The winner of the night was Storage Wars, The Game, and Tosh.0. The Game is co-produced by Grammnet Productions, founded by Kelsey and Camille Grammer (RHOBH).
