LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Paris Hilton’s “Drunk Text” music video leaked online Thursday. Today Paris Hilton’s new song is causing a critics’ hangover. Meantime, Hilton’s reps tell news that the music video for Drunk Text that leaked online yesterday was not unauthorized and is not a completed version. But critics are ready to pass judgment on the video, calling it an all-time low, even for Hilton’s musical standards.
In Drunk Text, Paris Hilton does not sing. Rather Hilton gives spoken word to bland electronic beats. Hilton’s music video is staged like outtakes of an old Madonna Vogue music video. A montage of close-ups on Hilton’s lips and face dominate the relatively boring music video.
While Hilton for months has been telling news how excellent her new 2012 album and songs will be, this track doesn’t live up to that standard. Blended like a vintage Calvin Klein Obsession commercial from the 1980s, Hilton says “I went out to the club the other night to, ya know, dance with my b–hes… My mouth kept pouring desperate clauses of random intent.”
Other Drunk Text “lyrics” include “He asks if he can text me after the club. He hands me another shot of vodka and I say, ‘Sure.’ …. No one is safe in the Twittersphere any more.” Later she adds “I’m too lazy to type so I send a photo I took up a dancer’s skirt…. He wants me to bring more girls up like some kind of pimp.”
Hilton appears in the music video with Manufactured Superstars (Brad Roulier and Shawn Sabo). The two have told news that the video has been removed from YouTube, Vimeo, and elsewhere. They claim the music video is not ready to be released. But with these lyrics, will it ever be?
