LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – The Obama Los Angeles February 15, 2012 visit today will prompt renewed traffic problems and road closures, from Westwood to Holmby Hills. Unlike a visit in October to Hancock Park, this time the President will be back in West Los Angles; traffic jams could continue as late as 9 pm tonight, from Brentwood to Beverly Hills.
Obama’s visit in L.A. will begin with a flight arriving at LAX at 3 pm PST. Officials tell news that Obama will won’t cause traffic jams between LAX and West Los Angeles. Instead, he will travel by helicopter from LAX to the West L.A. VA Medical Center.
But come 4 pm, if you live on the Westside of Los Angeles, you might want to stay off the road. After arriving at the VA at 4 pm, Obama will travel by car, officials tell news. From 4 pm to 5 pm, sections of West Los Angeles streets will be closed as Obama travels from Westwood to Holmby Hills.
A complete list of street closures have not been released to news. But Sunset Boulevard and Wilshire Boulevard will have sporadic closures. Additional side streets between Westwood and Holmby Hills will be closed as well.
Obama is heading to the Holmby Hills mansion of Will Ferrell. The fundraiser gala costs $38,500 per plate. The Foo Fighters will perform as well. But residents will have to fight the traffic as well. And the road closures don’t end there.
From 8 p.m. and 9 p.m., Obama will travel to the Beverly Hilton where he will spend the night. Tomorrow morning, the President is off to Corona De Mar at 7 am, then San Francisco in the afternoon for a performance with the Sound Garden.
Obama has previously visited Los Angles for fundraisers in August 2010. He also visited in April, September, and October of last year. Both the April and September trips impacted traffic on the Westside.
