LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Whitney Houston’s cause of death still remains unknown pending autopsy results and a coroner’s report. Whitney Houston’s cause of death remains under investigation today after the amazing, irreplaceable talent was found dead in Los Angeles Saturday. Initial autopsy results will be available as early as Monday with further updates from a complete coroner’s report following later this month.
An autopsy ordered by the L.A. Coroner’s office will answer what Whitney Houston died from. Initial, unconfirmed news reports Sunday, however, claim that Houston may have died of an accidental bathtub drowning inside a Los Angeles area hotel.
Both the time of death and cause of death remain a mystery still Sunday. Houston was found dead inside the Beverly Hills Hilton Hotel Saturday. Her body was removed shortly after midnight.
Houston was in town to attend the annual Clive Davis pre-Grammy party. Houston was staying on the fourth floor of the hotel. But at shortly after 3:30 pm, a woman believed to be Houston’s female assistant, found Whitney dead in her hotel bathtub. Unconfirmed reports suggest the positioning of Houston’s body indicate a drowning.
It is believed that Houston had been dead for hours when the assistant found Houston’s body. Houston was confirmed dead at 3:55 pm PST Saturday February 11, 2011.
The news was first confirmed by Houston’s publicist to AP. “BREAKING: Publicist Kristen Foster says singer Whitney Houston has died at age 48″ read the AP Twitter news statement. The statement would be re-tweeted by nearly thirteen thousand Twitter followers within moments.
“At 3:55pm, Whitney Houston was pronounced dead at the Beverly Hilton Hotel,” Beverly Hills Police Department Lt. Mark Rosen said in a news statement Saturday. Rosen says no foul play was involved stating that “no obvious signs of criminal intent” existed.
Clive Davis issued a news statement promptly. “I am personally devastated by the loss of somebody who meant so much to me. Whitney was so full of life. She was so looking forward to tonight…she loved music. She loved this night. Let’s celebrate music.”
He added that she “had a talent beyond compare…. She graced this stage with her regal presence so many times. Simply put, Whitney would have wanted the music to go on and her family asked us to carry on.”
Funeral services are expected in the Hope Baptist Church in New Jersey. But the time and location of funeral arrangements have not been announced.
The Davis party continued as planned. Producer Jimmy Jam said it “may be appropriate we’re saying our first goodbyes to Whitney at a Clive Davis event”. Jam noted that Davis was credited for bringing Houston into our homes two decades earlier.
India.Arie says Houston “set the standard for what it is to be a great female artist”. Quincy Jones said “I am absolutely heartbroken at the news of Whitney’s passing. Ashford & Simpson first made me aware of Whitney when she was just sixteen, and I always regretted not having had the opportunity to work with her. She was a true original and a talent beyond compare. I will miss her terribly.”
Whitney Houston will be greatly missed. Send your love.
